ACCRA, May 19 (Xinhua) -- Four-time African champion Ghana has been drawn in Group C alongside Cote d'Ivoire, The Gambia, and Somalia in the qualifiers for the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), according to the draw held at the Confederation of African Football headquarters on Tuesday.
A total of 48 teams participating in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers, scheduled to run from September 21, 2026 to March 30, 2027, are divided into 12 groups, with top two of each group qualifying for the finals and hosts Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania having qualified automatically.
Ghana failed to qualify for the previous edition of AFCON.
The continental tournament, which is returning to East Africa for the first time in 51 years, is scheduled for June 19 to July 17, 2027.
