NAIROBI, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Kenya's economy grew by 4.9 percent in the third quarter of 2025, up from 4.2 percent in the same period of 2024, the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) said on Tuesday.

According to the KNBS, the growth was supported by improved performance across several key sectors, including agriculture, manufacturing and transport. The agriculture, forestry and fishing sector expanded by 3.2 percent during the quarter.

"The growth was supported by an increase in milk production and exports of cut flowers," the report said.

The manufacturing sector grew by 2.5 percent in the third quarter of 2025, compared with 2.3 percent in the corresponding quarter of 2024. However, the KNBS said that performance within the sector was mixed, with growth largely driven by the non-food sub-sector, while the food sub-sector recorded a decline.

Meanwhile, the transportation and storage sector expanded by 5.2 percent in the third quarter of 2025, up from 4.6 percent a year earlier. The KNBS said the growth was largely supported by increased activities in water, road and air transport.
