ISLAMABAD -- A soldier and a terrorist were killed in combat between security forces and terrorists in the north Waziristan district of Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, an army statement said on Saturday.

During an intense exchange of fire, a terrorist was killed, the military's media wing Inter-Services Public Relations said in the statement. (Pakistan-Combat-Terrorist)

NAIROBI -- Kenya and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) on Saturday partnered to launch a peace campaign to curb electoral violence ahead of the upcoming general elections slated for Aug. 9.

Mandisa Mashologu, the acting resident representative of the UNDP Kenya, said in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, that the Let Peace Win campaign seeks to foster greater commitment by all stakeholders to peaceful elections in order to safeguard the development gains Kenya has already achieved. TUNIS -- The Chinese tech giant Huawei held on Saturday the opening ceremony of its first "Seeds For the Future Alumni Reunion -- North Africa 2022" in the Tunisian capital of Tunis.
